Summer Fun!
Announcing This Year’s Summer Camp Theme: Practical Life
We are thrilled to announce the theme for this year’s summer camp: Practical Life! This engaging and educational camp is designed to equip children with essential life skills in a fun and interactive environment. Each week, campers will focus on different practical life skills that will help them grow into confident and capable individuals.
Week 1(25-28 June)
Sewing and Cooking:
Cooking:
- Cooking Techniques: Children will learn basic cooking skills, such as chopping, mixing, and measuring ingredients.
- Kitchen Safety and Hygiene: Instruction on how to handle kitchen tools safely and maintain cleanliness.
- Hands-on Projects: Fun and interactive cooking activities where children can create simple and delicious recipes.
Sewing:
- Basic Sewing Skills: Introduction to hand sewing techniques, including threading a needle, basic stitches, and sewing on buttons.
- Safety Practices: Emphasis on safely using sewing tools such as needles and scissors.
Creative Projects: Children will complete small sewing projects, such as making a simple pouch or decorating a fabric item, to practice their new skills.
Week 2 (01-05 July)
Building and Gardening
Building:
- Basic Construction Skills: Introduction to simple building techniques using safe, child-friendly tools.
- Hands-on Projects: Children will participate in fun building projects, such as constructing birdhouses or small wooden models.
- Safety Practices: Emphasis on the safe use of tools and materials.
Gardening:
- Planting Basics: Learning how to plant seeds, water, and care for different types of plants.
- Garden Maintenance: Understanding the importance of weeding, mulching, and composting.
- Nature Activities: Engaging in nature walks and exploring the garden to learn about various plants and insects.
Week 3 (08-12 July)
Survival Skills:
- Basic First Aid: Learning essential first aid techniques, including treating minor cuts and scrapes, and understanding when to seek help.
- Outdoor Safety: Understanding how to stay safe in various outdoor environments, including recognizing potential hazards and learning about weather preparedness.
- Navigation and Shelter Building: Introduction to basic navigation skills such as reading maps and using a compass, as well as constructing simple shelters using natural materials and pitching a tent.
- Fire Safety: Learning about fire safety, including how to safely start and extinguish a campfire under supervision.
Week 4 (15-19 July)
Well being: Inside and Out
Physical Well-being:
- Healthy Eating: Learning about balanced diets, the importance of nutrition, and making healthy food choices.
- Exercise and Fitness: Participating in fun physical activities and exercises to promote fitness and overall health.
- Personal Hygiene: Understanding the importance of daily hygiene practices, such as handwashing, dental care, and skincare.
Emotional Well-being:
- Mindfulness and Relaxation: Introduction to mindfulness techniques, including breathing exercises and simple yoga routines to promote relaxation and reduce stress.
- Emotional Awareness: Activities to help children identify and express their emotions in a healthy way
- Building Self-esteem: Engaging in positive self-talk and activities that boost confidence and self-worth.
Week 5 (22-26 July)
Problem Solving Challenges:
Critical Thinking and Logic:
- Puzzles and Brain Teasers: Engaging in a variety of puzzles, riddles, and brain teasers to enhance logical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- STEM Activities: Hands-on science, technology, engineering, and math challenges that require creative solutions and teamwork.
Teamwork and Collaboration:
- Group Challenges: Participating in collaborative tasks and games that encourage teamwork, communication, and cooperation.
Creative Problem-Solving:
- DIY Projects: Tackling fun do-it-yourself projects that require innovative thinking and resourcefulness.
- Role-Playing Scenarios: Engaging in role-playing activities that present real-world problems and encourage children to think on their feet and devise effective solutions.
